Gideon holds an undergraduate degree and MBA from Griffith University in Brisbane Australia and he is an affiliated member of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and MBA for life.
Gideon is a seasoned professional in the business development, sales & marketing, retail and energy sector, known for his previous role as the Country Retail Manager at Puma Energy (PNG) Limited, a leading energy company operating in Papua New Guinea, he was the first PNG national to localize this role. With a strong background in retail management and a proven track record in the energy industry, Gideon brings a wealth of experience to his role. He has held various executive managerial positions with multi-national corporations like British American Tobacco and Santos, demonstrating his expertise in driving business development, sales & marketing, retail strategies, operational excellence, and customer-centric initiatives. As the Country Retail Manager for Puma Energy, he was responsible for overseeing the company’s retail operations on a national scale. He played a key role in formulating and executing retail strategies, managing a network of service stations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services to customers across Papua New Guinea.
As a senior leader, Gideon was responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring operational excellence, and optimizing processes across various facets of the business. He played a pivotal role in implementing operational strategies that align with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
Gideon’s leadership is characterized by his ability to drive performance, foster a culture of excellence, and implement innovative retail solutions to meet the dynamic needs of the market. His strategic vision had contributed to the growth and success of Puma Energy’s retail division in the country.
Under Gideon’s leadership, Puma Energy has maintained a strong focus on customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and the continuous improvement of retail services. His commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience has been instrumental in positioning Puma Energy as a trusted provider in the Papua New Guinean market.
Adding on to his professional responsibilities, Gideon sits on several boards as a director to Telikom Limited, Datec and PNG Directories. He is also the chairman for Business Audit & Risk Committee (BARC) for Telikom Limited, in this role, Gideon ensures strict business compliance in its systems and processes simultaneously maintaining a good corporate governance culture in the State Owned Enterprises (SOE).
He is also actively involved in community engagement initiatives and corporate social responsibility programs that aim to make a positive impact on the communities served by the PNG Business Community, the SOEs and others. His dedication to corporate citizenship reflects the company’s commitment to social and environmental stewardship.
Given his strong commercial attributes, he was appointed the inaugural CEO for the organization to lead the company.
